As a graphic designer, I really enjoyed merging design with the calming essence of yoga for a series of studio merchandise. It’s the same calm approach I use when working with colors that will eventually come out of the other side of a printer.
Creating colors that will exist in real life, is entirely different than working on digital design. A simple paint brush and water color palette, or a printer, would never be able to recreate the full brilliant display of colors delivered through the lights of an LED screen. This is the difference between working with, and choosing from, a CMYK color palette vs. a RGB/HEX color palette. The brand will need to match seamlessly no matter where it’s seen. It’s important, and I always keep this in mind when creating initial brand guideline choices for heavy print requirement companies.
My approach emphasizes simple impactful visuals, anchored by nature-inspired hues that mirror the studio’s elegance and peacefulness. These items enrich the yoga journey for every client, adding a layer of serenity to their practice.
By focusing on simple yet profound design elements, I ensure each piece resonates with the studio’s sophisticated atmosphere. It’s a rewarding process, creating merchandise that beautifies the space and also amplifies the tranquil experience for practitioners. This endeavor strengthens the connection between physical space and spiritual practice, enhancing the overall ambiance and client satisfaction.
Printing on Unique Materials
For this design suite, I tackle the task of logo adaptation on complex surfaces. I ensure the logo is perfectly replicated, a detail-oriented task. For spandex fabrics and yoga mats, I use special printing techniques to keep the logo looking intact, even through lots of stretching and wear.
Cork yoga blocks also present unique challenges. Cork’s porousness demands a special printing method to keep the logo visible. My goal is to flawlessly present the logo on all merchandise, maintaining the studio’s brand and appeal. By choosing specific printers and printing methods, I enhance the products’ beauty and functionality, meeting high standards and matching the studio’s serene atmosphere.
